Brandy J. Lewis holds a doctorate in English from the University of California, Riverside. She specializes in Comics, Film and Media Studies, Queer Theory, and Science Fiction Studies, and she has interned with the Eaton Collection of Science Fiction and Fantasy, the world’s largest collection of materials related to the genres, handling original documents and ephemera from comic, anime, and funny animal fans since the mid-1960s through today. Her dissertation entitled "Untaming Fandom: Funny Animal Figures and the Page-Based World of Furries" was completed June 2024, and she is currently transformed into a pig, though she finds very little wrong with this at the moment.
