"Welcome to the team! So today is your first day at the SCP foundation? Trainees will join Dr. Groening (Puzz) for your initial introduction to the SCP foundation. The foundation's mission statement is to Secure, Contain, and Protect anomalous items, ideas, and lifeforms.

Often the only thing that protects the non-anomalous from the anomalous (and vice-versa) is a lack of knowledge, so secrecy is of utmost importance!

We will discuss the mission of the SCP foundation, discuss notable anomalies, and do our best to keep as many of our trainees as possible safe and from losing all threads of sanity in the process.

Amnesties will be provided for trainees who wish to leave the program."

Plushies, pool toys, piñatas, statues, flatten beings, living fursuits, have all been growing in popularity within the furry fandom in the last few years, bringing more interest to inanimate transformation. What is the psychological draw to such transformation and can we trace the history of such shapeshifting in myth and folklore to the Golden Age of Science Fiction and Silver Age of Comics to the cartoons of the 80s and kid commercials of the 90s to the modern day.

90 Years of Fantasy, Furries, and Fandom

A companion to our 90 Years of Conventions panel, this panel looks at the historian of modern fandom and the early roots of furry fandom. From the anthropomorphic heroes of early science fiction and fantasy zines from the 1930’s, to the talking animals in the funnies, cartoon animals in comics, cartoons, and animation, to the fanzines which gave rise to Steve Gallacci’s Albedo, the birth of the Cartoon Fantasy Organization, and birth of furry room parties and furry cons. This panel is dedicated to furry pioneer Mark Merlino and celebrates 90 years since the founding of the SFL, the first organized fan club.
